In this blog, we will be sharing some information written in a thesis by, Kristine D. Carlos with the University of Central Florida.
According to their research, "the oldest legends of crystal magic date back to the mythical ancient continent of Atlantis whose people allegedly used crystals for telepathic communication."
"Early works in astrology, originally written in Sanskrit and dating as far back as 400 B.C., make observations of the powers of these stones. A trauma would call for a particular gem to ‘counteract the negative effect.’ Wearing talismans and amulets around the neck has been a medical practice for many ancient cultures. Specific stones are used to bring about a desired effect."
This is something we even see today with "New Age" crystal usage. But it's believed the effects of crystals and stones may deplete if they aren't being recharged.
"A stone or crystal can be empowered by the energies of the person wearing it, or it may have to be recharged in other ways such as placing it under the sun or in cooling water. For stones that have been severely misused, methods exist for revitalizing them. Among other things, they can be washed in a saltwater solution as an effective treatment (Carlos).
We also believe charging crystals under the full moon, smudging them with sage, and placing them in your saltwater baths are all effective ways to ignite their properties.
At Los Elementos, we believe it's best to choose a candle you believe this crystal is 'calling' to you. Your eyes may be immediately drawn to it, or you may feel the candle is asking you to pick it up or choose it.
Not only do crystals project their powers, but they soak in the energy around them. This is why we believe it's important to carefully choose where you want to put your candle in your home.
